Seniors James Hornocker and Paris Warner were recently selected among 200 high school and college students to receive the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship. The $10,000 renewable scholarship (up to $40,000) is for students who are pursuing an education degree and plan to teach in Indiana for at least 5 years upon graduation. Selected through a competitive process based on academic achievement and additional factors, students must continue to earn the scholarship in college by achieving a 3.0 cumulative GPA and complete at least 30 credit hours per year. While at APA, both James and Paris have prepared for a future in education by cadet teaching at the Pre-Academy and Elementary, respectively. Since the scholarship was created in 2017, five students from APA have benefited from this award. #MakeYourDreamsTakeFlight

Reminders on our upcoming schedule changes: APA is in session tomorrow, Friday, April 5, 2024. APA is on synchronous (same time as normal class) e-learning on Monday, April 8, 2024 due to large amounts of visitors to our county because of the total solar eclipse. This means cadets will have Google meets at specified times for all of their classes. Teachers should have already spoken to their classes about the expectations for this day. Lessons should be meaningful and pertain to some aspect of eclipse learning. APA is maintaining our scheduled e-learning day on Friday, April 12, 2024. This will be a traditional e-learning day where cadets will receive their assignments prior to this day and will have time before/during/after to ask questions and/or complete their meaningful assignment. If you have questions, you should reach out to teachers first and building-level administrators next. #MakeYourDreamsTakeFlight

2023-2024 School Calendar Updates: 3/15/24: This was a scheduled snow make-up day but due to extenuating circumstances, this day will now be an e-learning day. On this day, cadets will work at their own pace on meaningful assignments. All assignments will be posted on 3/14/2024 by 9am allowing cadets and families to ask questions the day before. Teachers are expected to be available via email and Remind from 9am – 2pm on for any questions. Assignments are due no later than Friday, 3/29/2024. 4/8/24: This is the day of the full solar eclipse. Due the anticipated number of people that will be in our community during that day, we are moving to e-learning. Cadets, K-12, are expected to join Google Meets during their designated class times. Lessons will be STEAM-focused with emphasis on the eclipse and related topics. More information from teachers will come home soon. If you have questions please reach out to classroom teachers about specifics. #MakeYourDreamsTakeFlight
