Students who are enrolled in the Virtual Academy grades 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th are welcome to come on March 28th from 8:15- 12:30 for hearing screeners provided by Ball State Students. We ask that Elementary Parents wait in the front lobby while your student is being screened.

Congratulations to APA junior, Clara Fulton! She was invited to a showcase basketball game for Indiana Elite. Indiana Elite selects high school students that have shown advanced skills in the sports, that can be showcased during a game for college recruiters to watch.

In recognition of Black History Month, we learned about the history of hand clap games. We learned that they came over from Africa during slavery. Drums were banned so they created rhythm with their hands and other various things. We then created our own hand claps that told a story. Check out our photos! We had lots of fun with this and learned some fun facts about hip hop and dance as well!

Today our Leader in Me lesson was “Habit #7, Sharpen the Heart.” We worked together to create a heart shaped puzzle full of things that make us feel good. We can put the pieces together when we are feeling down to remind us how to pull through some deep and difficult feelings. We had a moving discussion on the many types of feelings that make us feel bad. I was moved by the many teary eyes and heartfelt responses we shared. It was an amazing feeling as we all connected together. These children are incredibly strong and I love them so much! You have a right to be extra proud of them!!!! -Ms B.
